# RADIUS (QUX)

**Configuring a RADIUS Authentication Profile**

To set up and configure a RADIUS Authentication Profile, follow these steps:

#### Navigating to RADIUS Profiles

1. Browse to **Manage** > **External Authentication** > **RADIUS Profiles**.
   * For customers using RUX from version 9.6 you will find the Radius Profiles on the path **Configuration** > **External Authentication** > **RADIUS Profiles**.
2. Click on **Create**.

#### Required Information

On the RADIUS Profile creation screen, provide the following details:

* **Profile Name:** Enter a descriptive name for the profile.
* **Authentication Protocol:** Currently, only **PAP** is supported. Select PAP as the protocol.
* **Connection Timeout:** Specify the timeout duration (in seconds) for the connection.
* **Server URI:** Provide the URI of the RADIUS server.
* **Shared Secret:** Enter the shared secret used to authenticate with the RADIUS server.

#### Finalizing the Profile Creation

1. Once all required fields are completed, click on **Create**.
2. A confirmation message, **"RADIUS profile created!"**, should appear, indicating successful creation.

#### Assigning Users to the RADIUS Profile

After creating the profile, assign users to it to enable authentication through the configured RADIUS server. Navigate to the appropriate user management section and associate the users with the newly created RADIUS profile.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.vectra.ai/configuration/access/external-authentication-qux/radius-qux.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
